Fresh off India’s T20 World Cup triumph in Ahmedabad, Shivam Dube opened up about his unusual journey back home, revealing how he travelled by train while trying to avoid being recognised.
Unlike most players who opted for flights, Dube had to take a different route, as tickets from Ahmedabad to Mumbai were fully booked following the final. With limited options available, he chose to travel in a 3AC coach, despite the risk of being spotted by fans.

Speaking in a video shared by Chennai Super Kings, Dube admitted the experience was both exciting and challenging.
“It was amazing. I enjoyed it a lot. It was quite tough for me. We took the train around 5 a.m., and there were many people. But since it was right after the World Cup, no one expected me to be there. I went to the top berth and slept for some time. We slept around 5:30 and woke up at 10:30,” he said.
The all-rounder also revealed that this wasn’t his first such experience. He had taken a similar journey last year after a BPCL tournament in Baroda, travelling discreetly with a mask to reach home quickly.
“I had done this before as well, wearing a mask. Last year, before the IPL, I travelled by train from a BPCL tournament in Baroda because I wanted to reach home early,” he added.
Dube also spoke about Sanju Samson, who will join him at CSK for the first time. He revealed that Samson had asked about the atmosphere in Chennai, to which Dube replied, “You’ll love it. It will feel like home. There’s no pressure—you can just focus on your practice and training.”
Dube is expected to play a key role for CSK in IPL 2026, with the five-time champions set to begin their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 30 at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
